About/ A propos de Nous

Hello!

What we do:

We are an organization that harvests fruit from suburban (or urban) homes in the west end of Montreal. Our service is free! We share the harvested fruit between the owner of the fruit tree or bush, the volunteers who help pick and local non-profit organizations that can use the fruit. We harvest any kind of fruit or berry, as well as rhubarb and we are looking into harvesting from nut trees. Anyone can volunteer; just send us an email to vergersdecheznous@gmail.com. Thanks!

How we started:

A few years ago I started to notice some fruit trees that were growing in my neighbourhood. I thought that it was such a waste that the fruit that came off them never seemed to be eaten. It wasn’t until a few months ago, spurred on by conversations I was having with others that had had the same thought that I decided it was time to give this a go. Our first harvest was in summer/fall 2012. The bounty is shared between the volunteers who harvest and non-profit and community organizations who could use our fruit.

In our suburb in West Island of Montreal, all kinds of fruits are growing: apples and pears, berries and cherries. In fact, historically many varieties of fruit trees grew in our area, that, long ago, was agricultural.

If you have any questions or comments, please email: vergersdecheznous@gmail.com

Thank you!

Genevieve

Bonjour!
